Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 3, 2026 · Effective immediately

This Privacy Policy describes how Mimic Labs LLC ("Mimic," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and protects information when you use the Mimic mobile application and the website at mimicparenting.com (together, the "Service"). We've tried to write it in plain language. If something is unclear, email privacy@mimicparenting.com and we'll explain.

1. Who we are

Mimic Labs LLC is the developer of the Mimic app, a behavioral identity practice for parents. The data controller is Mimic Labs LLC, reachable at privacy@mimicparenting.com.

2. What we collect

Information you give us directly

  • Account information: email address, and (optionally) a display name when you create an account.
  • Practice content: the photos, videos, text reflections, habits, vices, and tracked patterns you record inside the app. This is your private journal of practice. We treat it accordingly.
  • Subscription information: if you subscribe, we receive a transaction identifier from Apple. We do not receive or store your credit card number — Apple handles that.
  • Support correspondence: if you email us, we keep that thread to answer you.

Information collected automatically

  • Device and usage data: device model, operating system version, app version, language, time zone, crash reports, and basic usage events (e.g., "completed daily flow"). This is used to fix bugs and improve the app, not to build a profile of you.
  • Approximate location: only the country derived from your IP address, used for analytics and to comply with regional law. We do not collect precise GPS location.

What we do not collect

  • We do not collect your contacts, calendar, photo library (beyond the specific images you choose to add to the app), or microphone audio outside of features you actively use.
  • We do not use third-party advertising trackers, and we do not allow advertisers on the Service.
  • We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. Mimic is designed for parents (adults). See Section 9.

3. How we use your information

We use the information described above to:

  • Operate the app and provide the features you sign up for.
  • Sync your practice content across your devices, if you've signed in.
  • Process subscriptions through Apple's App Store and manage your access.
  • Respond to your support requests.
  • Diagnose crashes, fix bugs, and improve performance.
  • Send transactional email (account confirmations, password resets, receipts). We do not send marketing email unless you opt in via our waitlist or newsletter.
  • Detect, prevent, and respond to fraud or abuse of the Service.
  • Comply with legal obligations.

4. Legal bases (for users in the EEA, UK, and similar regions)

We process your information on the following legal bases: contract (to provide the Service you signed up for), legitimate interests (to keep the Service secure, prevent fraud, and improve it), consent (where we ask you to opt in, e.g., for marketing email), and legal obligation (where law requires us to act).

5. How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We share limited information only with the following categories of recipients, and only when necessary:

  • Service providers who run our infrastructure on our behalf (e.g., Supabase for database and authentication; RevenueCat for subscription management; analytics and crash-reporting providers). They are contractually limited to using your data to provide their service to us.
  • Apple, in connection with App Store distribution and in-app purchases.
  • Legal authorities, when we are legally compelled to disclose, and only to the extent required.
  • Successor entity, if Mimic is merged, acquired, or sold. We will notify you before your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.

6. Where your information is stored

Mimic is operated from the United States. Your information may be processed and stored in the United States and in other countries where our service providers operate. By using the Service, you understand that your data may be transferred internationally. We use providers that offer appropriate safeguards for international transfers (such as Standard Contractual Clauses where applicable).

7. How long we keep your data

We keep your account information and practice content for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete your practice content within 30 days, except where we are legally required to keep certain records (such as transaction records for tax purposes, which we keep for the period required by law).

8. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you.
  • Correct information that is inaccurate.
  • Delete your account and associated personal information.
  • Export your information in a portable format.
  • Object to or restrict certain types of processing.
  • Withdraw consent where we rely on consent.
  • Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@mimicparenting.com. We respond within 30 days. We may need to verify your identity before acting on certain requests.

California residents: the California Consumer Privacy Act ("CCPA") gives you the right to know what categories of personal information we collect, the purposes for which we use it, and to whom we disclose it. You also have the right to request deletion and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising your rights. We do not sell personal information as that term is defined under the CCPA.

9. Children

Mimic is intended for parents and is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact privacy@mimicparenting.com and we will delete it.

Note: as a parent, you may add photos or videos of your child to the app for use as part of the Mirror practice. That content is yours, stored as part of your private practice, and treated under this policy as your information. We do not analyze, share, or use those images for any purpose beyond providing the feature you used them for.

10. Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit (TLS), encryption at rest where supported by our infrastructure, access controls, and regular reviews. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security. If we discover a breach affecting your information, we will notify you and applicable regulators as required by law.

11. Cookies and similar technologies

The Mimic website uses minimal cookies — those needed to make the site work and to measure aggregate traffic. The Mimic mobile app does not use third-party advertising cookies or tracking SDKs. We do not participate in cross-app tracking. Apple's App Tracking Transparency consent is therefore not required for our app.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you (by email or in-app) before the change takes effect. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision.

13. How to contact us

For privacy questions, requests, or complaints, email privacy@mimicparenting.com.
